Dr. Verchere leads the administrative core and leads projects for the second and third research goals of centre.

Dr. Francis Lynn
Associate Professor

Department of Surgery, School of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia

Dr. Lynn is the lead of the centre’s first research goal: Replacing insulin-producing cells in type 1 diabetes.

Research Expertise: pancreatic stem and progenitor cells, regulatory networks & single cell sequencing

Dr. Megan Levings
Professor

Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, School of Biomedical Engineering, University of British Columbia

Dr. Levings is the lead of the centre’s second research goal: Reducing the immune attack of insulin-producing beta cells.

Dr. James Johnson
Professor

Dr. Johnson is the lead of the centre’s third research goal: Targeting and monitoring beta cell stress.

Research Expertise: beta cell biology, hyperinsulinemia and cellular stress
